 ough the Lens of Vernacular Newspapers</em>. The screening will be followe
 d by a Q&amp\;A with the filmmakers.\n\nAbout the Film:\n<em>Paper Chase 
 </em>explores the evolution of the Japanese Americans and their first cult
 ural institutions—the vernacular newspapers.  From the arrival of the f
 irst immigrants in the late 1860s\, to the struggles against discriminatio
 n\, to the World more than 150 years of history.  Rare footage and photog
 raphs are combined with key interviews to trace the incredible journey of 
 Japanese in America.  Along the way\, Paper Chase attempts to answer the 
 unavoidable question:  Will Japanese American community newspapers surviv
 e?\n\n<em>This program is in partnership with the Zentoku Foundation\, a n
 on-profit organization created to help grow and strengthen the Japanese Am
 erican community by developing a convenient\, user friendly\, and meaningf
