Join JANM in Washington D.C. for a partnership Day of Remembrance (DOR) program with the National Archives, the National Archives Foundation, The Irei Project, and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, and the Japanese American Citizens League about The Ireichō, Book of Names, and the launch of its national tour.

Moderated by Dr. Colleen Shogan of the National Archives, the program features panelists Ann Burroughs of JANM, Dr. Anthea Hartig of the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History, Shirley Ann Higuchi of the Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation, and Duncan Ryuken Williams of the Irei Project. Guests will have the rare opportunity to view The Ireichō and Executive Order 9066 as both will be on display for public viewing for the program.

DOR commemorates the signing of Executive Order 9066 on February 19, 1942, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Executive Order 9066 authorized the US military to remove persons of Japanese ancestry from the West Coast and set into motion their incarceration into concentration camps during World War II.
