The full caption for this photograph reads: Closing of the Jerome Relocation Center, Denson, Arkansas. On the first few train departures in moving evacuees from the Jerome Center, residents awaiting subsequent movements had to be content with waving to their friends from inside the fence. On the June 18th trip to Gila River, it was decided to permit everybody to pass through to the tracks. Here they milled around and said their goodbyes at close range, much to the delight of the photographer.
