Mitsu Beni Akiyama Sundvall

My parents never revealed meaning of my name, except that my 2nd name, Beni is the one my grandfather made up for my mother. Grandpa was a poet, socialist/anarchist (in plot to assassinate emperor) which might account for mom's name Beni, which means red. My big sister's name is Emi/Amy & my three little brothers have totally English names (Kensey, Donald Terrance, & Dennis Richard (mama wanted her boys to have lively Irish personalities (as opposed to quiet Japanese one))

As a child my name was anglicized to Mitsi & I knew when I finished high school I would be my own person & become Mitsu.

I worked in China imports for ten years & the Chinese interpreted my name as Kwan, which means light, & I like that.

I traveled around the world with sleeping bag, tent only 3 days supply of food, and $25 in my pocket.

Sometime I go by M.K. Pronoounce Makei, or McKae, because people don't pronounce it right.

Maureen McCauley

My name refects my Irish heritage - Maureen is a variation of Mary, a very common Irish name. My parents considered naming me Kathleen, but switched to Maureen for the alliteration with my last name. It's not a wildly unusual name but unusual enough to be misspelled more often that you might think. 

I've always like my name <3

Mario Baquian

What I like about my name is How is How pepol like is I stand up for tham and for myself. (People like me because I stand up for myself!)

When Mario was born his father who is Filipino and his mother who is Caucasian wanted a Filipino name that his family (the Filipino side) could pronounce. There were lots of cousins who had "American" names but the Filipino lola's and lolo's could not pronounce them. Mario's dad said he wanted a "simple name like Mario or Adam" We decided on Mario. It was a name that was popular inteh Philippines, we have uncles that are named "Mario" and best of all the lola's and lolo's could say it beautifully!
