Living conditions
Living condition in barracks was good, lots of warmth during winter. Slept on army bunks.
We bathed in shower with lots of hot water.
Meals were excellent.
For entertainment, I read, and on weekends, I did lots of historical sightseeing, shopping in large dept. stores. etc.

Most vivid memory of military experience
I was very shy so leading a platoon was very difficult for me. Basic training was very difficult but very funny at times during parades when mosquito stopped on my neck or on WAC in front of me and we couldn't move or laugh.
Morning calls where girls would run out of barracks without skirts but with shirt, necktie and G.I. slip on only.

Missed most whilst in the military
Being with friends and family
Most important thing, personally, to come from military experience?
My military experience had changed my personality and my outlook on life. Living among various ethnic groups, different social backgrounds, rich and poor, was the best experience I ever had. What I want my family and friends to know is that what I am today, I owe it all to the U.S. Army.
