Additional information
In 1942, Colonel Rassmusem came to Manzanar direct to recruit instructors for MISLS at Camp Savage, MN. As a consequence, Dave Itami, Shoji Takimoto and myself were hired as civilian instructors (the very first volunteers from relocation centers) and left for Camp Savage, Minnesota, in the latter part of October, 1942. After the school moved to Fort Snelling, I voluntarily joined the armed forces, looking forward to going overseas. However, it was not until the school moved to the Presidio, Monterey (California) that in 1947, I was able to go overseas and served in Japan for approximately 2 years.
