Kentarō Kuwatsuka, Associate Professor of Human Geography, Center for Migration Studies, University of the Ryukyus. Here he is shown speaking at the "Community Forum: Okinawans and Their Global Networks" program held on Saturday, March 1, 2008, at the Japanese American National Museum.
He was in charge of collecting data and creating a database for a survey conducted at the 4th Worldwide Uchinanchu Taikai (festival). He is interested in "movement' of the people between the regions as well as area development. He has also researched about the map of Japan and Okinawa which was created by the U.S. army during World War II.
His presentation, "Geographical Experiences of Uchinanchu's Migrations Between the Birthplace and the Place of Residence," is available in English and Japanese.
