Fred Shiosaki returned to Spokane, WA to complete his education in chemistry. He became Director of Spokane County Air Pollution Control Authority. He retired in 1990 following 11 years as Manager of the Environmental Affairs Department of Washington Water Power Company in Spokane. He is an avid gardener and fisherman. His personal exploits during the Battle of Bruyeres and the Rescue of the Lost Battalion are written in Part 5, Banzai in France, of Riding the Bomb, a book by Charles R. Grizzle, of true stories of young people surviving the insanity of World War.
