The NSU Culture Night is an entirely student run theatrical production held every year in UCLA's prestigious Royce Hall. There are 4 performance groups, drama, Kyodo Taiko, NSU Modern, and Odori, whose members are entirely students, and led by student directors. In addition there is a Production Committee as well as a Backstage group that help put CN together behind the scenes. The process of putting on this production together develops not only the show, but helps students find identity, develop leadership skills, and form lifelong relationships with everyone involved.
The 2009 NSU Culture Night (CN) play was titled "Always Welcome, Never for Sale." This story highlighted the gentrification and redevelopment of our Japantowns and recently sparked discussion within the Little Tokyo community.
