There is around 312,000 Brazilian-nikkeis living in Japan today. Although the base of their income comes from their work in factories of automobile, electronics, food and many others, the community is large enough to allow many to open their own business, offering products and services specifically for the Brazilian-nikkei consumer.
Products range from food, cothes, movies in DVDs with Portuguese subtitles to cosmetics and house cleaning items, all imported from Brazil. A number of services is also available: restaurants, car dealers, clubs, dentists, lawyers, schools, travel agencies, etc.
If, in one hand, this structure helps Brazilian-nikkeis to have a more Brazilian way of life, on the other hand it also helps preventing them of learning the local language and of integrating with the Japanese society.
