生活状況

Hot water, shower. Food: Very good, prepared by professionals who served on pre-war Japanese passenger ships (GHQ ATIS - Tokyo) Entertainment: Visited Japanese relatives, travelled (both duty and own time). Was 'great duty' as spoke Japanese fluently.

軍隊生活で最も記憶に残っている出来事

Nisei, in general, was not recognized for their worth, in promotions -'tho praised often'. (Note: 95% of officers in MIS were Caucasians - why?). My personal feeling: also, (I think) Major Tsukamoto did not fight hard enough for the Nisei/MISers, altho' most of us were young and did not yet have college educations in 1943-44-45 which is 'expected' of commissioned officers. I was in service a relatively short time - mainly served in Japan occupation less than a year. Felt we were doing important work and tried our best for both U.S. and country of our parents.
